The 2016 winner of the Tom Bearson Spirit Award is Michael Meyer, from Pierz, Minnesota ($.

 

While reading through our winner’s essay, we learned that Michael shared some of the same great qualities we found in our son, Tom. It was obvious that this young man, who worked on the family farm, is also a sincere, genuine person and a role model to his peers. Also an excellent student, he is a leader both on and off the field.

It should be noted that Michael was a three sport athlete who played football, basketball, and baseball. He was an Associated Press all-state first team pick as a defensive back / wide receiver. He led the Pierz Pioneers to the Class 2A state Football Championship.

We are honored to present our inaugural Tom Bearson Spirit Award Crystal Trophy and a check for $1,000 to Michael Meyer from Pierz, Minnesota.
